Don’t Lose Hope — Allah Is Still With YouThe Cry of a Broken Heart

A brother once said with tears in his eyes,
“Brother, I can’t escape from the trap of pornography and masturbation. Two years ago, Allah gave me the light of faith. I left everything and lived a pure life for over a year. But now my heart feels hard, and I don’t feel Allah as I once did. I repent, but then I fall again. I fear I’ll return to my old sins.”

These words are not his alone. They echo in the hearts of countless young Muslims today.

Allah Has Not Abandoned You

Even if you are surrounded by sin, the fact that you want to return to Allah shows your soul is still alive. It means Allah is still calling you back.

Allah says in the Quran:

“Do not despair of the mercy of Allah.” (Surah Az-Zumar: 53)

You are not beyond His mercy. You are being guided back, slowly but surely.

Repentance Is Not Weakness, It’s a Sign of Faith

Falling into sin and repenting again does not make you a failure. It means your heart is still connected to your Creator.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Whoever commits a sin and then repents, Allah forgives him, even if he sins again and repents again.” (Tirmidhi)

Every time you rise after falling, you prove that faith is still alive within you.

When the Heart Feels Hard — It’s a Trick of Shaytan

When you feel distant from Allah, that’s not the end. It’s Shaytan whispering, “Your repentance is useless.” But this is a lie.

The tears you shed for your sins extinguish the fire of those sins. Your pain and regret are signs that Allah’s mercy is near.

Practical Steps Toward Purity

Change begins with small, consistent actions. Here are practical ways to regain spiritual strength

  1. Pray Two Rak’ahs at Night
  2. In the quiet of the night, stand before Allah and say, “O Allah, I am weak. Keep me on Your path.” Sincere dua can soften even the hardest heart.
  3. Read and Reflect on Surah An-Nur
  4. In this chapter, Allah teaches the importance of modesty and purity. It reminds you to lower your gaze and protect your heart.
  5. Block All Paths to Sin
  6. Remove all access to adult content, videos, and pages that lead you astray. You can’t fight temptation while leaving the door open.
  7. Stay Consistent in Salah

Allah says:

“Indeed, prayer keeps one from indecency and wrongdoing.” (Surah Al-Ankabut: 45)
Salah is your strongest shield against sin.

  1. Keep Righteous Friends

Surround yourself with people who remind you of Allah. A single good friend can help you stay firm and remind you that you’re not alone in this struggle.

The Final Message

You are not lost. You are fighting the greatest battle — the one against your own desires. And those who fight their nafs are the ones Allah loves most.

One day, you will inspire others. You will say,
“I once couldn’t overcome my sins, but with Allah’s help, I am free today.”

May Allah soften your heart, purify your soul, and grant you strength so that even when sin calls your name, your heart answers with remembrance of Him.
